This device contains four independent gates each of which performs the logic exclusive-OR function.
XOR gates are similar to OR gates with the additional parameter of excluding the mode of both inputs being high. In other words, If A OR B is true, but not both, then Y (the OUTPUT) will be true, otherwise it will be false.
