Description
One of the main drawback of TTL ICs are, output voltage will be in the range of 5 volts. So the outputs of these ICs cannot be used to drive high current loads such as lamps or relays. 7407 ICs are normally used in such situations. These devices perform the boolean function Y = A in positive logic, which means if the input is at logical HIGH, output will be at logical HIGH. Similarly, if the input is at logical LOW, output will be at logical LOW. But the magnitude of input and output voltage will be different. Input voltage will be 5.5V. But the output voltage will be 30V. Pinout diagram of 7407 IC is given below.
Features of 7407.
1. Convert TTL Voltage Levels to MOS Voltage Levels.
2. High Sink Current Capability.
3. Inputs Fully Compatible With Most TTL Circuits.
4. Clamping Diodes at Input Simplify System Design.
5. Open-Collector Driver for Indicator Lamps and Relays.
Truth Table of 7407.
Supply Voltage, Input Voltage and Output Voltage of 7407 are 7V, 5.5V and 30V respectively.
