MAX30100 Heart Rate Module
Pulse oximetry measures oxygen saturation in the blood stream. Because oxygen saturation can reflect early medical problems such as heart and lung problems, this reading is useful as a general health monitoring indicator.
•It works based on the absorption of light by hemoglobin in the blood. Oxygenated hemoglobin absorbs more infrared light than red, while deoxygenated hemoglobin absorbs more red light than infrared. Therefore, red and infrared leds in the oximeter emit light alternately, and photodiodes receive light signals that arenot absorbed. The ratio of red to infrared light received by the photodiode is used to calculate the percentage of oxygen in the blood.Pulse rate and intensity are also determined and displayed during measurement, based on the pulsating nature of arterial blood flow.
